Justice Spirituality Education Conference 2015
November 7, 2015
Biola's School of Education invited Dr. Chris Grace to speak as the keynote for their annual Justice, Spirituality and Education Conference this year on Nov. 7, 2015. This year's theme was: "Raising Flourishing Children in a Perishing World."
Description of Dr. Chris Grace's keynote: The shifts in the cultural landscape over the last decade are simply unprecedented. Things that were previously unquestioned—behaviors of right and wrong, what is just and unjust, loving or hateful—are no longer clear, nor universally agreed upon. The already challenging task of raising flourishing children in this new world has become significantly more difficult. We are to equip this generation to be models and witnesses, like ambassadors in a foreign country, who love their country of origin, but who now live in a different country, with different values and customs. We want them to be a testimony to a hurting, changed world, modeling what it means to love God with heart, soul and mind, and their neighbor as themselves.
Throughout the conference, there were workshops and speakers covering topics ranging from caring for African widows and their children, to developing children's spiritual formation in a tech driven world. It was a great opportunity for the CMR to be involved in equipping these 80 educators and parents who are teaching and shaping the children of this generation.
