How to Communicate and Be Successful - Lecture at U.C. Berkeley
October 26, 2016
Dr. Chris Grace and Dr. Tim Muehlhoff gave an open lecture on Oct. 13 at U.C. Berkeley on “How to Communicate and Be Successful: Tools for Growth in Relationships.” The lecture was open to all U.C. Berkeley students, advertised primarily through social media outlets, and sponsored by Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ). They covered topics like ubiquitous communication, empathy and mindfulness. Their lecture gave current Cru students and staff the opportunity to have follow-up conversations with all the students who attended, and generated the largest attendance at any Cru event there in recent history.
The attendees filled out response cards and noted that the lecture was “extremely helpful” “very engaging” and “incredibly relevant in our modern world.” Cru Campus Director at U.C. Berkeley, Deb Goodson, spoke well of the event saying “One of our biggest challenges at Cal is finding avenues in which the Christian worldview attracts non-Christians, and finding events that spark interest in the spiritually non-interested. This presentation saw the largest number of non-Christians we’ve had at an event in the past 3 years, and we’ve been able to share the Gospel with a number of them during our follow up. We’re so thankful for the work of the Center for Marriage and Relationships, and we look forward to seeing how these presentations will impact this next generation of leaders.”
Dr. Grace and Dr. Muehlhoff have been invited back next year for another lecture presentation, and are in planning with Yale University to make a similar presentation there this spring.
