We launched our first Fan the Flame Marriage Conference in Detroit, MI on Feb. 18, 2017. In partnership with Evangel Ministries, we hosted approximately 300 adults, 86 children and 36 volunteers for the day. The speaking team included the CMR’s Dr. Chris Grace (director and professor of psychology), Dr. Tim Muehlhoff (professor of communication), Dr. Veola Vasquez (Rosemead alumna), and Dr. Aundrea Paxton (Rosemead alumna). The speaking team also included Dr. Christopher Brooks, senior pastor of Evangel Ministries (Talbot alumnus), Dr. Sabrina Black, Evangel Ministries, and Dr. Crawford Loritts, senior pastor of Fellowship Bible Church in Atlanta, GA (Talbot alumnus).
On Dec. 2, Dr. Chris Grace spoke to a group of student leaders at Biola University on how to navigate difficult conversations.
Dr. Chris Grace and Dr. Tim Muehlhoff spoke to over 100 Biola University students on Nov. 3 about the topics of friendship, singleness and dating. Specifically, they addressed whether these types of relationships are healthy or toxic.
Alisa Grace spoke on Nov. 3 at Grace Baptist Church - Santa Clarita to about 120 women on the "Nine Steps to Help You Navigate Unmet Expectations in Your Marriage."
Dr. Chris Grace and Dr. Tim Muehlhoff gave an open lecture on Oct. 13 at U.C. Berkeley on communication and tools for success and growth in relationships. Open to all U.C. Berkeley students and sponsored by Cru, this lecture covered topics like ubiquitous communication, empathy and mindfulness. It generated the largest attendance at any Cru event there in recent history and gave current Cru students and staff the opportunity to have follow-up conversations with all the students who attended.
The Center for Marriage and Relationships hosted 95 couples at their third annual Going Deeper Together Marriage Conference at Biola University from Oct. 7-8, 2016.
Alisa Grace spoke to the women of Talbot Wives Fellowship on the topic of: "Navigating Common Expectations in Marriage" on Sept. 13, 2016. The Talbot Wives Fellowship Fall 2016 theme is: "Rooted in Love: Strengthening Our Marriages to Withstand the Winds of Life."
Dr. Chris and Alisa Grace spoke at Intervarsity's Campus by the Sea Family Camp on Catalina Island from Jul. 3-9. The program theme was: "Journeying with Jesus" – they explored the call to follow Christ, finding our identity in Christ, the challenge to stand for Christ, and experiencing forgiveness and restoration to Christ.
